Re: Computation errors
To clear some things up: - Our work units can encounter computation errors due to edge-cases and numerical error. Currently, our client gives a non-zero error code when this happens, which BOINC interprets as a failed work unit. We'll get this fixed so you get credit. - We don't yet have progress ba...

Re: Server issues?
We're planning to add on a lot of simulations in the next week. This should fix the problem.

Do you mean the BOINC user database or the forum user database?

The issue should be fixed. Are you still getting bad WUs?

Re: Welcome to the world, eOn2
We are still working on transferring old eon points over (http://theory.cm.utexas.edu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=727). The client code is not portable to CUDA. While we would like to take advantage of graphics cards, their architecture constrains what kind of calculations we can run efficiently. ...

Re: Server issues?
When we have much longer WUs (detailed quantum mechanical calculations), we will use checkpointing.

Re: constant scheduler requests
We've backed off the scheduler a little. Due to the nature of our current simulation, clients need frequent updates from the server in order to make sure that the work they have is still useful. As we start to do more accurate calculations and more simulations in parallel, the need for scheduler req...

Re: Welcome to the world, eOn2
We'll have a detailed description of the research done by this project soon under the "science" link on the main page (http://eon.ices.utexas.edu/eon2/science.php). I'll PM you when it's done.

Re: Server issues?
We're working on the problem. In the meantime, you can work around this issue by resetting and then updating the project.

Re: printf quiet mode
The problem with this is that if we implement it, then decide that we don't want it, it will be quite annoying to remove. Is there any way that we could just pass the function and a tuple of its arguments to a "silence" function, and that function would then do everything necessary to call...

Wireframe sounds good. It doesn't convey selection to me, but it is cheap.

Idea: selection haloes
Presently, vsr does not display special properties of atoms, such a frozenness. I think that a good way to display this may be a semi-transparent colored sphere surrounding the atom with about 10% greater radius. Thoughts?
